The States Works Department looks after general maintenance and contracting services to the States of Alderney using the expertise of the predominantly manual workforce and specialist vehicles and equipment.
The department provides electrical support, civil engineering and building services, waste and recycling and upkeep of parks and grounds.

The Agricultural team of States Works carry out a range of chemical and trap based pest control services.
Department qualifications include; The safe use of pesticides / Rodent control / Insect control.
Areas covered include; Rodents, Asian Hornets, Wasps, Bees and honey bee relocation, Ants, Weevils, Bed bugs and Fleas.

States Works operate the Island's household bulk refuse scheme, collect glass, tins, plastic and general waste from the islands recycling sites and service the coastal refuse bins.

Guernsey Mind was formed in 1977 and is an independent charity with all funds spent on delivering services locally. A Branch of 'Alderney Mind' has also been established
They provide signposting services geared towards the individual and focused on the impact of their mental health on their lives and relationships. They provide an opportunity for someone to be fully heard and listened to confidentially and without judgement. Information about local and online services is provided and referrals given where possible.
They do not offer advice nor are they qualified counsellors. Their services are fully confidential and no information is shared unless specifically requested by the individual.
Guernsey Mind remain committed to supporting the Alderney community and will be looking at providing:

Safer is the Bailiwick of Guernsey’s domestic abuse charity supporting all victims of domestic abuse whether they be adults, children, women or men & regardless of age, race, religion, sexual orientation or disability.
Safer runs the island’s Women’s Refuge and provide the Independent Domestic Violence Adviser service for adults and children. Safer also provides outreach to the community, counselling services to help victims move forward positively, run The Guernsey and Guernsey Children’s Contact Centre, provide training sessions, raise awareness, lobby and advocate on behalf of victims of domestic abuse. Safer works in a multi-agency environment under the States Domestic Abuse Strategy umbrella with the States and other charities.
