What is Alderney Housing Association Ltd

Alderney Housing Association was set up in 2010 and is an independent not-for-profit company The Association was sponsored by the States of Alderney to help provide new additional social housing to meet the needs of local Alderney people.

Currently, we have 55 homes rented or leased to local people, 15 have been newly buit and most of the older stock have been refurbished to provide comfortable and modern homes.

Who runs the Association?

The Association is controlled by a Board of experienced professionals drawn from the community who serve on a voluntary basis. The Association employs staff to carry out the day to day running of the company.

How is the Association financed?

All new social housing we build is funded through a combination of States grants via the States of Alderney and private finance borrowed from the Banks, currently The Royal Bank of Scotland International. The grant is required in order to provide housing which can be rented or offered on a partial ownership sale basis at less than market rates. The majority of our homes are for rent, however we have built a number for partial ownership sale to local first time buyers.

Who do we house?

Homes will be offered to people on the Association's waiting list dependent on their current circumstances and the availability of accommodation.

To check if you qualify for our homes please look at the Lettings Policy page or look at the detailed Policy in the Library page.

Who does our improvement work?

We have a list of approved tradesmen for minor works and main contractors for major works which go through a rigorous tender process.  If you would like to be included on our list please contact the AHA Manager.
